Bearbells

You walk into any camping store along the mountains and the very first thing they tend to push onto you is the bearbell. The theory of them is that the sound of the bell will warn bears that humans are coming and they will run off, but that is simply a tourist trap.

 The truth is that many survival experts and hunters call them “bear attractors.” The rumor is that the bears will actually wonder what the sound is and actually come to check it out, particularly if they are younger.

If you want to warn bears you are coming, the best you can do is talk loudly with your friends or even sing a song.
