Dead-Fall Trap

This is called a "dead-fall trap." It is constructed primarally using the natural things around you; consisting of a rock, branches, string, and bait. While they can be built to work on their own, it is normally used more commonly by setting off the trap by hand with string. All you do is connect the string to the branch seen above, and when an animal goes to take the bait, you pull the string and set off the trap. However, the downfall of this is that while you are in the area, the prey might catch you scent and avoid the area.

How the one in the picture works is when the prey pulls on the bait, it pulls out the branch holding the rock and the rock falls. This limits the chance of the prey catching your smell or sound.
